How long does trademark registration take in India?
The full process from filing to registration typically takes 12–18 months, sometimes longer if an objection is raised. However, you can use the TM symbol from the date of filing — you don’t have to wait for the certificate.
What is a trademark class?
Trademarks in India are registered under 45 classes — each covering different types of goods or services. Filing in the wrong class means your brand isn’t protected where it matters. We advise on the right class before filing.
What happens if someone else files a similar trademark?
If you’ve already filed, you have priority over any later application for a similar mark in the same class. If someone else has already filed before you, we’ll find this in our search and advise you before you spend on filing.
What is the government fee for trademark registration?
For individuals and MSME-registered businesses, the government fee is ₹4,500 per class (online filing). For companies not MSME-registered, it’s ₹9,000 per class. Our service fee is separate from the government fee.
Can I trademark my logo as well as my business name?
Yes. You can file separate trademark applications for your word mark (business name) and your device mark (logo). We recommend both if your logo is distinctive and central to your brand.
